Animal Control

The City of Alma operates an Animal Control Program within the city limits of Alma. Chapter 4 of the City of Alma Code of Ordinances addresses the city's codes involving animals.

Requesting a Trap

Please contact Bobby Yarberry at 912-632-8316 to request a cat or dog trap. Animal Control will place a trap on the person's property who is requesting a trap. Once an animal has been caught, please contact Bobby Yarberry to have the animal removed. The City of Alma advises people not to handle the animal once it has been trapped.

Reporting a Deceased Animal

Animal Control will pick up deceased animals if they are located on a city street. Please contact Bobby Yarberry at 912-632-8316 to have the animal removed. If the animal is located on a state or federal route, please contact GA DOT at 912-632-7059 to have the animal removed.

Dog Bites

If someone is has been bitten by a dog, please see a physician immediately. The physician will contact the Alma Police Department to conduct an incident report. Animal control will be contacted in order for the dog to be placed in confinement for 10 days to check for rabies. 

Animal Nuisance

Please contact Bobby Yarberry at 912-632-8316 to file a complaint regarding animals. Please be prepared to priovide the the address of the nuisance.

Adoption

Please contact the Douglas/Coffee County Humane Society at 912-384-8031 to adopt an animal.
