Fire Services
The City of Alma-Bacon County Fire Department serves the citizens of the City of Alma and Bacon County. The department is a combination of career and volunteer personnel who are responsible for protecting the lives and property of approximately 10,500 residents in a 285 square mile area county-wide. The City's department has 13 firefighters and the county stations have approximately 50 volunteers. The City of Alma has 3 fire trucks and Bacon County has 10 fire trucks.
The fire department conducts fire education and prevention, fire suppression, fire cause and origin investigation, code review and enforcement, and utility and non-fire emergencies.
ISO Rating
The City of Alma has an ISO rating of class 5. Bacon County has an ISO rating of class 9.
EMS Services
The Alma-Bacon County EMS has a staff of 13 EMT and Paramedic personnel and 4 ambulances. The EMS staff is on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The EMS personnel are also cross-trained as fire fighters. The EMS service is trained to conduct extrications and search and rescue among other responsibilities.
