Police Divisions
Records Division
All police reports, accident reports, and traffic cases are filed and maintained by the records division. Municipal court, the municipal court docket, and the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) system are a few of the responsibilities of the records personnel. The records personnel also handles case file requests, incident report requests, and accident report requests. Generally, fine collection and city bond issues are handled Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. There is a fee of $2.00 to pickup an accident or incident report. Criminal Investigation Division
City of Alma police department investigators are experienced in criminal and legal processes. This division of the police department is a specialized secondary division, designed to provide support and follow-up work on reported criminal and narcotics activity. Normally, three to four hundred cases are reviewed and about one hundred and fifty are adopted by this division each year. Investigators are responsible for property and evidence control, major crime scene processing, felony investigative interviews and processing, case liasons for the Office of the District Attorney, and support to patrol preliminary investigations. Case initiation of felony drug and criminal activity is often done based on the support and information/complaints reported by the citizenry. Patrol
The City of Alma is patroled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The division is staffed with Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (POST) certified trained officers who will be the first repsonders to all police calls for service. This division is responsible for handling criminal complaints and accident scenes. They patrol the geographical city boudaries day and night, responding to alarms, performing security checks, and deterring criminal activity. The officers of this division also provide public services and referral services for the public.
