Code Enforcement is responsible for the enforcement of the Zoning Code and the oversight of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Zoning Application and Fee

If someone requests to have a property rezoned, a completed application is required along with an application fee. The application fee is $150.00. Once the application is filled out, a person is required to set up an appointment with Department Head Gary Taylor to review the application and submit a payment for the application fee. Once the application is reviewed and the fee is paid, Gary will call a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting along with a public hearing to hear the request. At that time a decision will be made by the Planning and Zoning Commission whether or not to rezone the property in question. If the rezoning is approved, it is turned over to the Mayor and Council for final approval. If the Planning and Zoning Commission does not approve the rezoning, the applicant can appeal the decision to the Board of Appeals for a fee of $100.00.

Variance requests must be submitted in writing to Department Head Gary Taylor. The fee for a variance request is $100.00. Once the request is submitted, a person is required to set up an appointment with Department Head Gary Taylor to review the request and submit a payment for the request fee. Once the request is reviewed and the fee is paid, Gary will call a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting along with a public hearing to hear the request. At that time a decision will be made by the Planning and Zoning Commission whether or not to grant the variance to the property in question. If the variance is approved, it is turned over to the Mayor and Council for final approval. If the Planning and Zoning Commission does not approve the variance, the applicant can appeal the decision to the Board of Appeals for a fee of $100.00.
