White and Brown Goods Collection

The City of Alma has an exclusive private contract with Southland Waste Systems of Georgia, Inc. Southland collects white and brown goods on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Citizens are required to contact Southland at 912-284-1000 in order to have their goods collected. When contacting Southland, each citizen must provide their address. There is not a fee for the collection of white and brown goods. Citizens are encouraged to place their goods nearest to the street or public alley.

What items are considered white goods?
White goods are considered appliances. Some examples include washing machines, dryers, water heaters, and refrigerators.

What items are condsidered brown goods?
Brown goods are household items such as couches, matresses, and any furniture including kitchen tables.

What items are not accepted by Southland?
Southland does not accept carpet, paint, batteries, construction and demolition materials, sinks, and shower stalls. Please view the City's webpage on construction and demolition materials to find more information about the collection of those materials.
