The City of Alma collects yard waste on a weekly basis. The fee for the collection of yard waste is $3.00 per month. The fee for collection is added to a cutomer's water and sewer bill each month. Ordinance Regarding the Collection of Yard Waste
Chapter 11: Garbage, Solid Waste, Unsafe Buildings, and Other Nuisance Conditions
Article III: Weeds, Grass Clippings, Tree Limbs
Section 11-16: Tree Limbs, grass clippings, cuttings, etc., when picked up; length.
Tree limbs, grass clippings, cuttings, shubbery, and other similar trash of no more than one-half load per week will be hauled; provided such limbs, cuttings, shubbery, and other such trash if cut three (3) feet in length and placed in piles at the front corner of the owner's or tenant's property nearest to the street or public alley. Tree limbs, shubbery, and other similar trash will not be picked up by the city if the property owner or tenant has had the work performed by a licensed contractor.
Inert Landfill
The City of Alma owns and operates an inert landfill (GA EPD Permit #PBR003-03IL) located at 884 Radio Station Road. The City accepts yard waste at the inert landfill that adheres to the aforementioned code.
